Normally; the powder is used to make a porridge and given to babies. Here is an easy sweet black halwa recipe using Amrutham podi. Ingredients:
- Amrutham podi (nutrimix powder)-1 cup
- Thick coconut milk-2 cup
- Sugar-1/2 cup
- Melted jaggery-1/2 cup
- Salt-a pinch
- Cardamom powder-1/4 tsp
- Ghee-2 1/2 tbsp
- Chopped nuts-to garnish
Preparation:
- In a mixing bowl add Amrutham podi.
- Add coconut milk little by little by mixing well without any lumps.Keep it aside.
- Heat a non stick pan with 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 tbsp of water.
- Boil it until the sugar syrup turns to slight golden and then dark golden.
- When it reaches dark in color; carefully add 1/4 cup of hot water and mix well.
- Now add the Amrutham podi coconut milk mi by stirring well.
- Stir continuously and cook until thickens.
- When it thickens add melted jaggery and cook again until thickens.
- When it thickens add salt, cardamom powder and a tablespoon of ghee.
- Stir cook until halwa starts leaving from the sides of the pan.
- Then add another tablespoon of ghee and mix well.
- Cook for another few minutes until halwa gets nice dark in color.
- Add 1/2 tbsp of ghee; mix well and the halwa starts oozes out the ghee by itself.
- Turn off heat.
- Grease a steel plate with little ghee.
- Add chopped nuts.
- Above that spread the prepared halwa and level on top with a greased ladle.
- Allow to cools down completely and cut them in to squares.
